February 27, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Soccer held their TEAM Awards banquet tonight. All players were recognized for their many contributions to our program. Fourteen Varsity Letter Jackets were awarded last night! Junior Varsity individual awards went to: Jalen Fisher, Most Valuable Player, Vania Enriquez, Striker of the Year, Chloe Schlitt, Midfielder of the Year and Ariana Todd, Defender of the Year. The Varsity individual awards went to: Chynna McGirt, Rookie of the Year, Jennifer Cairns, Defender of the Year, Victoria Dorr, Midfielder of the Year, Nicole McClain, Striker of the Year, Meagan Notargiacomo, Most Valuable Player, and Hannah Hartline & Jalen Fisher, Fighting Indian Spirit Awards. NSCAA, FACA and Florida Dairy Award recipients were recognized. It was a very festive evening and a great end to our 2013-2014 season. A BIG thank you to all that help make this evening very special. CONGRATULATIONS VBHS Soccer. Tryouts for the 2014/2015 season begin in 220 days! Looking forward to another Summer Indoor tournament and some new record times in our pre-season fitness runs! Pre-season begins in 190 days!!
February 21, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer Sophomore Striker, Nicole McClain, is awarded the Florida Dairy Farmers Player of the Year for Class 5A! Congratulations! Nicole is one of five finalist for Florida's Miss Soccer award. Nicole led the Fighting Indians in goals scored with 35 and also tallied 14 assists. She carries a perfect 4.0 GPA and a weighted 4.66. The Fighting Indians were State Runner-up in 2014 and won a fourth consecutive District Title and their second Regional Championship (2011, 2014). The Vero Beach Girls Soccer program has a record of 77 - 13 - 4 in the last four seasons.
February 8, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer earns a State Runner-up title, their second runner-up in just 3 years (2011 and 2014)! St. Thomas defeated Vero Beach by a score of 5 to 0 in the State Championship match today. It was a 9-minute, 3 goal scoring run that put the Lady Indians in an uncomfortable position trailing to a team that had allowed only one goal to any of its Florida opponents this entire season. Vero Beach finished the season with a record of 20-4-1, A District Championship, a Regional Championship and a State Runner-up title. A remarkable season for the Fighting Indians! Tryouts for the 2014//2015 season begin in 245 days! Looking forward to another Summer Indoor tournament and some new record times in our pre-season fitness runs!
February 7, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer is headed to the FHSAA Class 5A State Championship! This is the Lady Indians second trip to the State Championship! Vero Beach 1 Palm Harbor University 0 in the State Semi-Final. Jennifer Cairns free-kick found Vistoria Dorr just inside the penalty area and as Tori dribbled in she was fouled by a Palm Harbor defender. Meagan Notargiacomo converted the penalty kick giving Vero Beach 1 nil lead at the 31st minute. Vero Beach had a few more opportunities to extend the lead but the game remained 1 to 0 at the end of regulation. It was Palm Harbor's first loss of the season. Vero Beach improved to 20-3-1 and Plays Twelve time State Champions St. Thomas Aquinas at 5:30 pm on Saturday.
January 31, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer is headed to the FINAL FOUR! Vero Beach 3 West Boca Raton 2 in the FHSAA Regional Championship. The Lady Indians took the lead 8-minutes in when Victoria Dorr scorred far post assisted by Erin Keenan. West Boca tied the game on a controversial goal in which Goalkeeper Ashley Campbell had possession of the ball while sliding across the ground in wet conditions and a Boca player knocked the ball out of her hands. Vero Beach answered right back with Nicole McClain scoring from an acute angle assisted by Ali Ritter. Vero Beach led until the 70th-minute when Boca tied the game on a cross the was headed in by Kelly Harris. Four-minutes later Meagan Notargiacomo blasted a shot far post from 20-yards out to give Vero the go ahead goal and the trip to the Final Four! Abbey Crawford recorded the assist. Ashley Campbell recorded 5 saves in goal. Vero Beach improves to 19-3-1 and will play Palm Harbor University on Friday at 5:30 pm in Melbourne in the FHSAA State Semi-final match. Vero defeated Palm Harbor in 2011, 1 to 0, that win earned them a trip to the Final Four 2011.
January 27, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Jupiter High School by a score of 5 to 2 to advance to the 5A Regional Finals. The Lady Indians came back from a 1 nil deficit just 3-minutes after Jupiter scored the game's first goal. Vero Beach striker, Chynna McGirt scored the equalizer assisted by Nicole McClain. Six minutes later Vero Beach took the lead, and would continue to lead throughout the contest. Nicole McClain scored Vero's second goal assisted by Meagan Notargiacomo. Victoria Dorr made it 3 nil at the 46-minute mark with McClain recording her second assist of the match. Notargiacomo made it a 4 to 1 game at the 60th-minute with Abbey Crawford assisting. Jupiter scored at the 73rd minute but Notargiacomo headed a Crawford free-kick into the back of the net just two-minutes later to make it a 5 to 2 game. Goalkeeper Ashley Campbell recorded 5 saves in goal. Vero Beach will play West Boca on Friday at 7pm in the Citrus Bowl. This is Vero Beach's third regional final in the last 4 years. It is their fifth consecutive regional appearance.
January 23, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Ridge Community High School by a score of 8 to 0 to advance to the FHSAA Regional Semi-Finals. Victoria Dorr scored the game winning goal at the 2-minute mark and then followed it up with another goal just 30-seconds later. Meagan Notargiacomo made it 3 nil after 8-minutes. Dorr and Chynna McGirt added two more first half goals to take a comfortable 5 to 0 lead into the half. At the 50th minute, Kirsten Mohr made it 6 nil. Nicole McClain made it 7 nil just one-minute later. Taylor Coddington hit a bending shot from 30-yards out that found the far side net and was sailing away from the Ridge GK to end the game at the 70th minute. Notargiacomo recorded 2 assists, Dorr, McGirt, Erin Keenan, Abbey Crawford, Calley Calcagno and Katie Kenward each had one assist. Goalkeeper, Ashley Campbell played 50-minutes in goal making only 1 save and Nikki Illare the last 20-minutes with no saves. Vero Beach improves to 17-3-1 and will Host Jupiter on Tuesday at the Citrus Bowl. Game time is 7 pm.
January 17, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer wins its FOURTH consecutive District Title by defeating Jupiter 3 to 1. Vero led 3 nil with only seconds remaining in the match before Jupiter was able to sneak in a goal. Chynna McGirt scored 2 goals (21st and 22nd) and added 1 assist to lead the Lady Indians. Nicole McClain added a header goal, her 32nd goal of the year. Abbey Crawford and Meagan Notargiacomo each added an assist, their 10th and 20th respectively. Goalkeeper Ashley Campbell recorded 5 saves in goal. Vero Beach will host Ridge Community High School in a Regional quarter-final match on Thursday at the Citrus Bowl, game time is 7 pm. Vero is making its fifth consecutive regional tournament appearance. Vero Beach's record stands at 16-3-1.
January 15, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Treasure Coast by a score of 3 to 0 in a District Semi-Final match at South County Regional Park. The Lady Indians advance to the District Final on Friday against Jupiter. Victoria Dorr scored goals in the 37th and 43rd minute to give Vero Beach a lead they would not relinquish. Chynna McGirt added a goal in the 46th minute, her 20th of the season. Kirsten Mohr had 2 assists and Ali Ritter had 1 assist. Goalkeeper Ashley Campbell recorded the shutout in goal. Vero Beach record stands at 15-3-1.
January 10, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer led Merritt Island 2 nil after 70-minutes ... but Merritt Island capitalized on two mistakes and tied the match with 10-seconds left in the game. Nicole McClain scored her 31st goal of the season at the 32-minute assisted by Meagan Notargiacomo. Chynna McGirt headed a Notargiacomo corner kick into the back of the net at the 60-minute mark to give the Fighting Indians a 2 nil lead. Vero Beach played one of its best matches of the year through 70-minutes. Ashley Campbell recorded a first half shutout making 2 saves. Nikki Illare recorded 3 saves and allowed 2 goals. Vero Beach's record stands at 14-3-1 and Merritt Island 11-2-3. Vero will play in the District Semi Finals on Wednesday at 7 pm. All District matches have been moved to South County Regional Park in Port St. Lucie.
January 8, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Jensen Beach 8 to 2 at Jensen Beach. Nicole McClain recorded a hat trick, scoring three goals in the first 35 minutes. Chynna McGirt had two goals and two assists, and Victoria Dorr added two goals and one assist for Vero Beach (14-3). Amaris Otero had one goal, her goal tied the game at 1, ten minutes in. Jennifer Cairns, Meagan Notargiacomo and Erin Keenan had one assist apiece. Vero Beach led 6-1 at halftime after trailing 1-0 in the first three minutes. Jensen Beach scored their second goal with 30-seconds remaining in the match. Ashley Campbell and Nikki Illare combined for five saves, each allowed 1 goal. Vero plays Merritt Island on Friday at 6 pm in the Citrus Bowl.
January 7, 2014 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Master's Academy 7 to 0 on Senior Night. Meagan Notargiacomo had one goal and four assists. Jalen Fisher had two goals and one assist, and Nikki Illare added two goals for Vero Beach (13-3). Abbey Crawford and Ariana Todd had one goal each. Katie Kenward, Jennifer Cairns and Kaley Fennell had one assist apiece. Illare, Ashley Campbell and Kenward combined for three saves on the shutout.Vero Beach plays at Jensen Beach at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
December 20, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Harmony High School by a score of 9 to 4. Chynna McGirt scored the game winning goal in the 31st minute and netted a hat trick on the night. McGirt also recorded one assist. Victoria Dorr scored the first two goals ... the first to get even at 1 to 1 and the second goal 2-minutes later to take a 2 to 1 lead. Dorr also recorded an assist. Nicole McClain and Meagan Notargiacomo each added one goal and two assists. Lauren Jensen and Calley Calcagno each added one goal. Katie Kenward recorded two assists and Kaley Fennell one assist. Vero Beach's record improves to 12-3-0 and Harmony suffered only its second loss of the year drops to 8-2-1. Vero Beach plays Master's Academy on January 7th, 2014 at 7 pm. Senior Night activities begin at 6:30 pm.
December 19, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer suffered a District match loss to Jupiter High School by a score of 3 to 0. Nikki Illare allowed 3 goals in the first half and Ashley Campbell did not allow a goal in the second half.
December 13, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated 2013 State Champion Class 2A, Nationally Ranked and previously unbeaten Trinity Catholic by a score of 3 to 2 on Friday at the Citrus Bowl. Trinity got on the scoreboard first when Laura Hamilton headed a Lindsey Pinder cross past Vero Beach goalkeeper Ashley Campbell. Just two minutes later, Chynna McGirt nailed a shot past Trinity GK Grace Ergle to bring the game even. Nicole McClain recorded the assist. McClain would give Vero Beach a 2 to 1 lead when she took a Victoria Dorr through-ball and beat Ergle, just 2 minutes before the half ended. Trinity made 2 to 2, halfway through the second half, when Abigail Camargo hit an upper 90 shot from 25 yards out. At the 72nd minute, right winger, Abbey Crawford sent a diagonal pass to McClain who ripped a left footed shot near post and scored what would be the game winning goal. Ashley Campbell recorded 5 saves, including a 1 v 1 save. Vero Beach had 9 shots on goal and Trinity 5 shots. Vero Beach left-back, Erin Keenan saved a sure goal when she volleyed a Trinity header out of the goal. Keenan would later clear a ball shot to the left post to preserve the victory. Scoring Summary: Nicole McClain 2 goals, 1 assist, Chynna McGirt 1 goal, Abbey Crawford 1 assist and Victoria Dorr 1 assist. Vero Beach improves to 11-2 and Trinity Catholic is now 11-1.
December 12, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Centennial High School by a score of 5 to 0. Katie Kenward scored the game winning goal 9-minutes in assisted by Victoria Dorr. Calley Calcagno scored 2 goals, Abbey Crawford and Chynna McGirt each scored 1 with both goals coming from outside 20-yards. Dorr had 2 assists, Erin Keenan and Katie Kenward each had one. Goalkeepers, Ashley Campbell and Nikki Illare recorded the shutout. Vero will play State Champion and currently undefeated Trinity Catholic at 7 pm Friday in the Citrus Bowl. Come support your Lady Indians!
In Junior Varsity action, the Lady Indians won by a score of 2 to 0. Jalen Fisher and Shannon Keville each scored unassisted goals. Yessica Rivas recorded the shutout in goal.
December 10, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Fort Pierce Central 8 to 0 in a District Match. Nicole McClain scored 4 consecutive goals and assisted on Victoria Dorr's game winning goal that came in under 1-minute. Chynna McGirt had 1 goal and 2 assists, Kirsten Mohr added a goal, Nicole McClain 4 goals and 1 assists, Victoria Dorr 2 goals, Meagan Notargiacomo had 3 assists and Abbey Crawford and Lauren Jensen 1 assist. Nikki Illare and Ashley Campbell combined in goal for the team's sixth shutout. The Lady Indians play on Thursday at the Citrus Bowl against Centennial. The Varsity Record is now 9-2 and 4-0 in the District. Next Thursday's match with Jupiter in Jupiter will determine the number 1 seed for the District Tournament. The Tournament will start on Monday January13, 2014 with the #4 seed vs. the #5 seed and #3 vs. #6. Then on Wednesday, at Lawnwood Stadium, the #1 seed will play the winner of 4 vs. 5 and the #2 seed will play the winner of 3 v 6. The Championship will be on Friday at 7 pm at Lawnwood Stadium.

December 4, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer fell to 2013 State Runner-up George Jenkins by a score of 2 to 0. The Lady Indians out-shot Jenkins 7 to 3 but was denied by some solid defending and excellent goalkeeping. Ashley Campbell allowed 2 goals in 80-minutes of play. Vero Beach's record is 8-2-0 and will play Ft. Pierce Central in a District Match on Tuesday at 4 pm at Ft. Pierce.
December 3, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated county rival Sebastian River by a score of 8 - 0. Nicole McClain scored the game winning goal at the 7-minute mark assisted by Katie Kenward. Goalkeeper, Ashley Campbell recorded the shutout in goal. Vero Beach led 6 to 0 at half-time. Vero improves to 8-1-0 and will play State Champion runner-up George Jenkins on Wednesday at 6:30 pm in the Citrus Bowl. Scoring Summary: Nicole McClain 4, Victoria Dorr 1, Abbey Crawford 1, Chynna McGirt 1, Calley Calcagno 1. December 1, 2013 - Vero Beach Soccer returns to action on Tuesday with a road trip to county rival Sebastian River. The JV team kicks-off at 5:30 pm and varsity at 7 pm. The JV team's record is currently 3-1-1 and Varsity comes in with a 7-1-0 record. Please see schedule changes for December 17th match. November 22, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer lost its first game of the season and ended an area record 31 match regular season winning streak. Viera defeated Vero Beach by a score of 5 to 0. Nikki Illare recorded 5 saves in goal. Vero Beach plays again on December 3rd against Sebastian River in Sebastian. The Junior Varsity team also posted its first loss of the year falling by a score of 6 to 0 to Viera.
November 12, 2013- Today's matches against West Shore have been cancelled. Vero Beach returns to action on Friday against Viera games at 5 and 7 pm.
November 19, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Treasure Coast by a score of 2 to 1 in a District Match. Vero Beach led 2 nil after 14 minutes on goals by Nicole McClain and Erin Keenan. Meagan Notargiacomo assisted on both goals. Goalkeeper, Ashley Campbell recorded the first half shutout. Nikki Illare made 3 saves in 30-minutes of the second half but received had to come out of the game after a collision while making a save. Campbell returned to goal and had one goal scored on her at the 76-minute. Treasure Coast goalkeeper, Amanda Corbin recorded 18 saves. Vero improves to 7-0-0 and 3-0-0 in the District. In Junior Varsity action, Vania Enrique netted 2 goals and Jalen Fisher converted on a penalty kick to give the team a 3 nil victory. Elizabeth Padilla and Fisher each had 1 assist. Yessica Rivas recorded the shutout in goal, her second in as many games.
November 15, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Heritage by a score of 8 to 2. Nicole McClain scored three goals as the Fighting Indians remain undefeated. Chynna McGirt added two goals for Vero Beach (6-0), which led 7-0 with 15 minutes remaining in the second half. Victoria Dorr, Meagan Notargiacomo and Abbey Crawford had one goal apiece. Erin Keenan had two assists. Kirsten Mohr, Taylor Coddington, Nikki Illare, Katie Kenward, Amaris Otero and McGirt had one assist each. Ashley Campbell had three saves in the first half. Illare had three saves in the second half. Vero Beach hosts Treasure Coast at 7 p.m. Tuesday. In Junior Varsity action, Jalen Fisher led Vero Beach to and 8 to 0 win scoring 4 of the 8 goals. Yessica Rivas recorded the shutout in goal.
November 12, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Centennial by a score 8 to 0 in a District Match at South County Stadium in Port St. Lucie. The game ended in the 72nd minute when Jalen Fisher finished a Taylor Coddington cross. Victoria Dorr scored the game winning goal at the 5-minute mark on a Nicole McClain assist. McClain scored the next 2 goals at the 8 and 17 minute mark assisted by Katie Kenward and Katie Wheeler respectively. Meagan Notargiacomo netted a goal, 22 minutes in, from an Abbey Crawford throw-in to make it 4 to 0. Chynna McGirt was fouled in the penalty area and converted the penalty kick to give the Lady Indians a 5 nil margin at half-time. Four minutes into the start of the second half, McClain scored her third goal of the night with Dorr assisting. McGirt made it 7 nil when she drove a shot from an acute angle to the near post. McClain recorded the assist. Goalkeepers, Ashley Campbell and Nikki Illare combined in goal for the shutout. Campbell recorded 3 saves and Illare 5 saves with both making a couple of impressive saves. Vero Beach improves to 5-0-0 and 2-0-0 in the District. November 9, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Spruce Creek by a score of 6 to 1 in a non-district match at the Hobart Soccer Complex. The Fighting Indians have extended their area record of consecutive regular season wins to 28. Victoria Dorr netted the first goal for Vero Beach at the 14-minute mark on a shot from 25-yards out. Meagan Notargiacomo recorded the assist. Nicole McClain scored, what would be the game-winner, 24-minutes in with Abbey Crawford assisting. Amaris Otero made a great penetrating and overlapping run from her right back position and scored at the 28-minute mark with Crawford assisting. Notargiacomo blasted the Otero ball in as it crossed the goal line ...just in case there had been any doubt. McClain scored her second goal on a driven header from a Crawford corner kick to make the score 4 nil, 56-minutes into the match. Notargiacomo made it 5 nil on Crawford's corner and fourth assist of the day. Spruce Creek's Alanna Smith scored on a high shot that beat goalkeeper's Nikki Illare with 9-minutes remaining in the match. The Lady Indians answered right back when Chynna McGirt finished Erin Keenan's through pass to give the Lady Indians a 6 to 1 lead. Goalkeeper Ashley Campbell recorded the first half shutout making 2 saves. Illare allowed 1 goal and recorded 2 saves also. Vero Beach improves to 4-0-0 and plays Centennial on Tuesday at South County Park in Port St. Lucie at 7 pm. November 7, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Palm Beach Gardens by a score of 8 to 0 in a District match at the Hobart Soccer Complex. Katie Kenward scored the game winning goal at the 4-minute mark on an assist by Nicole McClain. Vero Beach led 7 to 0 at the half. Center back, Jennifer Cairns, tallied a career high 3 assists on the evening. The match ended after 52 minutes. Nicole McClain scored 2 goals and assisted on 1, Victoria Dorr and Katie Kenward each scored 2 goals, Chynna McGirt had 1 goal and 1 assist, Jalen Fisher ended the match with her goal at the 52-minute mark. Kirsten Mohr, Meagan Notargiacomo and Lauren Jensen each added an assist. Goalkeepers Ashley Campbell and Nikki Illare combined in goal for their third shutout. Vero Beach improves to 3-0-0 and will play Spruce Creek on Saturday at 2 pm. The match will be played at the Hobart Soccer Complex. November 4, 2013 - Vero Beach Girls Varsity Soccer defeated Palm Bay by a score of 6 to 0. Nicole McClain scored 2 goals and assisted on 3 to lead the Lady Indians. Katie Wheeler, Kirsten Mohr, Chynna McGirt and Meagan Notargiacomo each scored 1 goal. Katie Kenward and Notargiacomo each added an assist. Goalkeepers Ashley Campbell and Nikki Illare combined in goal for the shutout. In Junior Varsity action, the Lady Indians defeated Palm Bay by a score of 10 - 0. Calley Calcagno scored 4 goals, Vania Enriquez 3, Sarah Weyand 2 and Jalen Fisher 1. Calcagno assisted on 2 goals, Fisher 2, Weyand 1, Shannon Keville 1, Sabrina Venecia 1 and Mackenzie Moore 1. Ariana Todd recorded the shutout in goal. Calcagno and Weyand, both freshman, are on the varsity team but volunteered to help the JV due to injury and illness. Both teams play on Thursday against Palm Beach Gardens at the Hobart Soccer Complex with JV at 5 pm and Varsity at 7 pm.
November 1, 2013 - Vero Beach Soccer Alumni Jackie Metz Earns Academic Honors. Go Jackie! You make us proud. Midfielder Jackie Metz has been selected to the 2013 Capital One District 5 All-Academic Team that was announced on Thursday. The junior from Vero Beach, Florida owned a perfect 4.00 grade point average coming into the fall semester while majoring in biology at Florida Southern. Full story click here
October 31, 2013 - In Junior Varsity action, we had a thriller at Lincoln Park Academy that ended in a 5 - 5 draw. Vania Enriques and Taylor Coddington each scored two goals and Abbey Crawford scored one for the Lady Indians. Taylor and Abbey, both freshman, are on the varsity team but volunteered to help the JV due to injury and illness. Lorena Molina and Ariana Todd combined in goal. The Lady Indians JV and Varsity play at Palm Bay on Monday.
October 30, 2013 - Vero Beach opened the 2013/2014 Season with a resounding 8 to 0 victory over Lincoln Park Academy in Ft. Pierce. Nicole McClain recorded a hat trick with her first goal coming at the 8-minute mark on a penalty kick. Chynna McGirt added 2 goals the first at the 17th minute and her second at 31-minutes assisted by Abbey Crawford. McClain made it 4 nil three minutes later on a Mak Burton assist. Meagan Notargiacomo took the game to 5 nil with 4-minutes remaining in the first half, she was assisted by Victoria Dorr. Sarah Weyand scored at the 53-minute mark on Crawford's second assist of the day. Calley Calcagno made it 7-nil on her unassisted goal from 20-yards out. McClain stopped the game with her goal at the 72nd minute assisted by McGirt. Ashley Campbell and Nikki Illare combined in goal for the shutout, each recorded 1 save. Scoring Summary: McClain 3 goals, McGirt 2 goals 1 assist, Notargiacomo 1 goal, Weyand 1 goal, Calcagno 1 goal, Crawford 2 assists, Burton 1 assist, Dorr 1 assist.
October 28, 2013 - Today's training was focused on our thought of the week, "Soccer is basically a struggle between the ones who want it and the ones who don't. Every single duel is a statement of who wants it more". There were some excellent 1 v 1 match-ups along with some outstanding goalkeeping. The regular season opens up on Wednesday with an away match versus Lincoln Park Academy.

Katie Kenward, Mak Burton, McClain and Otero each added an assist. Lauren Jensen recorded 2 assists. Ashley Campbell and Nikki Illare combined in goal for the shutout. Campbell recorded 1 save. October 22, 2013 - Pre-Season Classic Results: Vero Beach 6 Bayside 1 and Treasure Coast 4 Sebastian River 1. Vero Beach opened the 2013-2014 Pre-Season Classic with a convincing 6 to 1 win. Chynna McGirt recorded a hat-trick in her debut as a Fighting Indian. McGirt also had one assist. Nicole McClain netted 2 goals and recorded 3 assists while Mak Burton added 1 goal and 1 assist. Meagan Notargiacomo recorded 1 assist. Goalkeepers split time in goal with Ashley Campbell recording 1 save and allowing 1 goal. Nikki Illare recorded 2 saves and held Bayside scoreless. Vero Beach used all 22 players on the roster. Jen Cairns played a solid game at the center back position. The Lady Indians return to action on Thursday against Sebastian River at 7 pm. Bayside will play Treasure Coast.

October 16, 2013 - Practice for ALL players will be held at the Varsity Football (soccer) practice field which is located between the baseball and softball fields (directly in front of the Trainers building) . It will run from 5 pm until 6:45 pm. The pre-season roster, for next week's Pre-Season Classic, will be posted on Friday. If you have not performed your three-mile track run by Friday, you will not be considered for the Pre-Season Classic Roster. All runs were supposed to have been completed by October 4th. Players who are or who were on the injured reserve list are exempt from Friday's deadline but will still be required to complete the run.
October 15, 2013 - The Annual Red vs. White match was a big success. The white team playing in a 3-4-3 formation was the winner. The Red team started in a 3-5-2 and switched to a 4-2-3-1. The match revealed many strengths, player tendencies and some good training sessions to make us ALL a better team. We welcomed two new players last night Vania Enriquez who recently moved in from Georgia and Kathy Gomez who played her freshman year and is now a Junior. Congratulations to all players and their families who came out in large numbers to support our VBHS Girls Soccer program.
October 11, 2013 - Our final player evaluation, for the pre-season roster, will take place on Tuesday, October 15th, 2013 at the Red versus White Match at the Hobart Soccer Complex at 7 pm. There are still a few players who need to be timed and I will post an update when completed.
October 6, 2013 - Tryouts begin tomorrow, October 7th at 5 pm. We will be at the 20th Avenue Field, located just south of the VBHS baseball field. Please be prompt, dress appropriate for soccer training ... soccer shorts, vbhs practice shirt and soccer boots. The schedule for this week's tryouts will be Monday through Wednesday at 5 pm. On Thursday, we will meet at 2:30 pm for about 1 hour to time 40-yard runs and Nike 5-10-5 Sparq runs. Friday is a day off.
October 4, 2013 - Congratulations to all 23 players who were able to run in our two-mile bridge event today! A New Record time was posted! Six runners posted times under the 14-minute mark, ten runners were under the 15-minute mark and fifteen players posted times under 16 minutes. Calley Calcagno set the new two-mile bridge record with a 12:48 run. Amaris Velez-Otero was only 16 seconds behind with a 13:04 time and Katie Kenward was a mere 37 seconds off the new record pace with a 13:25 time. Hannah Hartline was a minute faster than her freshman year run, posting a 13:45 time. Ali Ritter also improved on her freshman run time, with a 13:47. September 27, 2013 - TEN days away from our first tryout session! Our next pre-season fitness / agility session will be on Wednesday, October 2nd at 2:30 pm at the Band field. We need volunteers at each of the designated points to help keep the runners on pace and pointed in the right direction. Please let me know if you can help. September 24, 2013 - At today's timed three-mile interval track run, three runners averaged under 7-minute miles. Hannah Hartline ran the final interval, (4) quarter miles, averaging under a 6-minute mile pace (5:59). Katie Kenward set the fastest mile run, to date, at 6:47 with Kirsten Mohr a mere 0:02 seconds behind at 6:49. Congratulations ladies! Hartline (6:53, 6:57, 5:59), Kenward (6:47, 6:54, 6:18), Mohr (6:49, 7:00, 6:26). Otero still holds the fastest quarter mile with an impressive 1:15 time. Today's fastest quarter-mile was Hartline with a 1:24 time. If you have not scheduled your run, get on the calendar ASAP. We are less than 30-days from our Pre-Season Classic matches! September 17, 2013 - Amaris Velez-Otero and Abbey Crawford averaged under 7-minute miles in today's three-mile interval track run. Otero ran the final interval, (4) quarter miles, averaging under a 6-minute mile pace (5:51). Her last quarter mile was an impressive 1:15. Crawford's final quarter was a mere 14 seconds off Otero's pace. Congratulations ladies! Otero (6:50, 6:30, 5:51) Crawford (6:58, 6:47, 6:32).
September 16, 2013 - Important dates to place on your calendar: Tryouts begin October 7th, that is 21 days away! Tryouts will begin promptly at 5 pm at the 20th Avenue soccer field. The TEAM two-mile bridge Run is scheduled for Friday, October 4th at 6 pm. If we start on time, we will be done by 6:30 pm. The Red vs. White Soccer match will be played on October 15th at 7 pm at the Hobart Soccer Complex. This match is used to evaluate players for our final Pre-Season Varsity Roster selection. Invite your friends and family to the match as they will have a chance to see your daughter playing in a VBHS uniform! August 15, 2013 - Pre-Season Fitness Runs times reported. Thank you to the players who are training for the timed 3-mile run and reporting their training times. This is the time to see what segment of the run needs improvement, if any. The fastest 1-mile run was under 7 minutes at 6:55, the fastest 1/2 mile was 3:22 and the fastest 1/4 mile was 1:34. August 8, 2013 - UPDATE on Pre-Season Fitness Runs. Beginning Tuesday, September 3rd, through Thursday, October 3rd, I will be scheduling the timed 3-mile event. Call Coach Jose at 772-633-1616 to schedule your date and time. I will be available each week from 2:30 to 3:30 pm to time your event. You can run solo, with another teammate or form a group of three for your run. We WILL NOT be doing this event as a team, so make sure to schedule YOUR run. Don't wait until the last minute! As the saying goes ... "If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse." The two-mile bridge run will be done as a team. I currently have planned Friday, October 4th at 6:30 pm. The event takes no more than 30-minutes. If we start promptly, you can run the event and get home in time for the AWAY football game at Lawnwood Stadium against Ft. Pierce Central. TRYOUTS begin in 60 days !!
July 31, 2013 - A GREAT way to end our summer sessions with the 3 v 3 tournament. This year's Champions, "We're Not Soph" was the team of Mak Burton, Victoria Dorr, and Nicole McClain. They were runner-ups last year as Team, "Keep'n it Fresh", and defeated last year's Champions, "Raging Yetis", Molly Cartwright, Meagan Notargiacomo and Ashley Ritter, in the today's final by a score of 4 to 2. "Team Triple Threat", Calley Calcagno, Katie Kenward and Sarah Weyand took third place defeating "The Swankies", Karley Currey, Ali Ritter and Caitlyn Taylor. Thank you to ALL the players who made this an outstanding summer open gym and to all the parents and friends who came to watch the tournament over the last two days. It is going to be a VERY memorable 2013 - 2014 season. TRYOUTS begin in 68 days !!
July 2, 2013 - Nike Sparq 5-10-5 shuttle run today ... Congrats to Jennifer Cairns and Victoria Dorr who tied with the fastest time. Meagan Notargiacomo was a mere 0.03 seconds off to finish third. Caitlyn Taylor and Chynna McGirt tied for fourth, 0.09 off the time set by Cairns and Dorr. The 5-10-5 shuttle will be one of our timed events during tryouts. The traditional 2-mile bridge run, the 40-yard sprint and the new 3-mile track event will all be part of the fitness portion of tryouts. We are 96 days away from tryouts! Looking forward to a GREAT and memorable 2013/14 season.
June 25, 2013 - Open Gym sessions are going very well. Today we had a surprise 2-mile beach run ... Congratulations to Katie Kenward who finished first, followed by Abbey Crawford, Tori Dorr and Kirsten Mohr. The summer sessions will conclude with a 4 v 4 indoor tournament at the end of July. Open Gym sessions are every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:30 am until 12:00 noon unless otherwise noted. Attendance is voluntary, HIGHLY recommended, and a great time to meet both incoming and returning players, Commitment is a cornerstone of our tradition and success at VBHS Soccer.
June 2, 2013 - Required Athletic Forms can be downloaded at: Athletic Forms Please complete the forms and bring them to an Open Gym session. Open Gym begins on June 11th at 10:30 am. Meet in the Soccer Room at 10:15 am. Indoor soccer shoes, running shoes or cross trainers are required for ALL our indoor sessions. Also bring a beach towel to each session ( you can store your towel in the Soccer Room). I look forward to a fun and productive summer session. May 1, 2013 - Updates of interest: Sophomore striker, Alana Hockenhull, commits to Clemson University. The new district assignments has us traveling south to play Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens and Ft.
